Betty Elaine (Cupp) Cox Elliott, 93, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 8, 2017. Born March 14, 1924, to John and Lillie Cupp in Indianapolis.

She attended Morton High School in Richmond, Ind., and married Lee O’Connell Cox who preceded her in death in 1982. Betty worked for State Auto Insurance in downtown Indy for 25 years as a manager of the print department and worked for American United Life for 26 years, retiring as a purchasing agent.

She was a member of Oasis and Christian Woman Fellowship at her church. She loved to help others and would volunteer for Christian Missionary Fellowship, Ronald McDonald House in Indianapolis and New Palestine Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Betty enjoyed traveling, especially to mountains and beaches. Spending time with her family was very important to her and she was always eager for family get togethers and she was very proud of her son, grand and great-grandchildren. She loved dogs and music. She enjoyed playing the piano and attending gospel quartet and music concerts.

Left to cherish her memory are son, Duane (Susan) Cox of Fishers; stepdaughter, Barbara (John) Biersdorfer of New Palestine; grandchildren, Daren (Bev) Cox of Newark, Ohio, Marci (Rich) Hebert of Fishers, Michelle (Gene) Mayes of Lexington, Ky.; great-grandchildren, Rachel and David Cox, Mikayla, Elijah and McKenzy Mayes; stepgrandchildren, Judith Diane, Mary Elizabeth Armstrong and Thomas John; and great-stepgranddaughter, Caitrin Armstrong.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tom Elliott; and daughter-in-law, Margaret Cox.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A celebration of Betty’s life will take place a 3 p.m. Reverend Travis Hacker will be officiating.
