Local church to host Armed forces concert

GREENFIELD — Philadelphia United Methodist Church will have its third annual Armed Forces Appreciation Concert at 6 p.m. Sunday. The church is located at 2265 U.S. 40 West. This year’s concert will be indoors.

Blood drive slated at Bradley United

GREENFIELD — Indiana Blood Center will be at Bradley United Methodist Church, 210 W. Main St., from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. July 10 accepting donations.

Devine Vision featured in Knightstown concert

KNIGHTSTOWN — Devine Vision will be featured at the monthly gospel sing at 6 p.m. July 15 at Knightstown Church of God, 405 North St.

Guitarist, singer to perform during service

GREENFIELD — Guitarist and singer Steve Jeffris will perform during Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church’s worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 16.

Jeffris has recorded 14 albums and has 11 CDs available at stevejeffris.com.

The church is located at 3447 S. State Road 9, Greenfield.

The service is open to the public; a free-will offering will be collected.

Community car show seeking entries

MT. COMFORT — A community car show is planned for 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 8 at Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church of the Risen Christ.

Awards will be given for Best Car, Best Bike, Best Truck, Best Tractor and People’s Choice. To register, contact John Bales at [email protected]. Entry fee is $20.

There is no charge to attend. Food will be available, and there will be drawings for prizes. The church is located at 3179 N. Mt. Comfort Road (County Road 600W).

St. Thomas Festival Weekend planned

FORTVILLE — The 35th annual St. Thomas Festival Weekend — including a Monte Carlo night and summer festival — is scheduled for Aug. 4, and Aug. 5, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

Monte Carlo night is scheduled for 7 to 11 p.m. Aug. 4. The cost is $20 per person or $30 per couple and includes food, soft drinks, beer and wine coolers.

People must be 21 or older to attend.

Games include blackjack, Texas poker, roulette, Chuck-a-Luck, Reverse Raffle, Tip Boards, Left-Right-Center, Paigow and Texas Hold-’em.

The “Ol’ Time Country Fun” summer festival is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Aug. 5.

The evening includes homemade chicken noodle dinner and desserts, ice cream, children’s games, live music, Bingo, a blood drive, silent auction, lemon shake-ups, farmers market and church tours.

There is no admission charge, but people pay for their food, games, raffle tickets and Bingo.

There will be raffles for $2,500 in prizes, including a handmade quilt rack.

Proceeds benefit the church, 523 S. Merrill St., Fortville.

Church offers Monday worship

CUMBERLAND — “Monday: The Bookend of the Weekend” is a summer worship service at 6:30 p.m. Mondays at St. John United Church of Christ, 11910 E. Prospect St.

It’s a weekday worship service for those who cannot attend Sunday or just want to attend an evening of worship and music.

Church serves weekly hot dog lunches

FORTVILLE — Fortville United Methodist Church, 125 E. Staat St., offers its Hot Dogs in the Park lunch events Wednesdays through July 28.

Free hot dogs, chips, beverage and dessert will be available, and crafts or a Bible story will be shared with young children.

The cookout is open to the public. Lunch will be served in the church Fellowship Hall if there is inclement weather.
