Paul E. Borgman, 77, of Greenfield, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017. He was born on July 15, 1939, in Beech Grove, Ind., as the son of Elmer Borgman and Mary (Harrison) Thompson.

He graduated from Mt. Comfort High School in 1957. He apprenticed for pipefitting, facility electrical and machining with Navistar. He served in the Army Reserves. Paul married Mildred A. (York) on December 24, 1963 in Greenfield.

He worked for Navistar as a pipefitter for 45 years before retiring in the early 2000’s. Paul was a member of AMVETS and United Autoworkers Union Local #98. He loved snowmobiling where he was instrumental in starting the Hancock County Snowroamers. He enjoyed tinkering and working his hands, spending time with his family, racing go-karts, drinking beer and watching NASCAR. In his younger years, he pulled garden tractors and loved working on his family farm and spending time with local farmers. Paul adored his dog, Pepper.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mildred “Millie” Borgman of Greenfield; sons, Clint (Kellie) Borgman of Pendleton and Lyle (Wendy) Borgman of New Palestine; and grandson, Riley.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susanne Shields; and sister-in-law, Sherry Courtney.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 12, Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 13, at the mortuary. Reverend Woody Thompson will be officiating.

Special thank you to the Neurology ICU nurses at St. Vincent on Naab Road for the love they gave Paul during the months he was there and to Kindred-Greenfield for all the care they provided in his final days and for the countless cards from friends.
