HANCOCK COUNTY — An Eastern Hancock Schools bus was hit by a car Monday afternoon along a rural road on the county’s east side, but no one was injured.

The crash happened on County Road 300N near the intersection with County Road 850E just before 3:45 p.m. Monday.

A driver heading east on the County Road 300N rear-ended the school bus, which was also eastbound. The car then collided with a pole.

No one involved in the crash was injured. Students aboard the bus were placed on another bus and taken home after a brief delay. The driver of the car was checked for injuries but released.

The school bus sustained moderate damage in the accident. The car was badly damaged and needed to be towed from the scene.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.
