County service to mark National Day of Prayer

GREENFIELD — Greater Greenfield Ministerial Association will lead a National Day of Prayer service at noon Thursday on the Hancock County Courthouse Plaza.

This year’s theme for the National Day of Prayer is “For Your Great Name’s Sake,” based on Daniel 9:29.

Local clergy members, other ministry leaders and laypeople will lead prayers on various topics.

Trinity Park choir to present cantata Sunday

GREENFIELD — The Chancel Choir of Trinity Park United Methodist Church will present a cantata, “Because He Lives,” in 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services Sunday at the church, 207 W. Park Ave.

15th annual plant sale benefits Amity’s work

BUCK CREEK TOWNSHIP — Amity United Methodist Church’s 15th annual plant sale is set for 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, May 4 and 5, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 6. The church is located at the corner of County Road 600W (Mt. Comfort Road) and County Road 100N.

The sale will feature small trees, annuals, perennials, herbs, vegetables, lilies, bushes, berry plants, birdhouses, primitive wood furniture, watercolor greeting cards, Mother’s Day gift plants, hanging baskets and large porch pots.

All proceeds from the plant sale will benefit the church and its missions.

Greenfield Marine to share at ‘Fight Club’

GREENFIELD — All men are welcome to attend the Men’s Fight Club event featuring Josh Bleill on May 19 at Park Chapel Christian Church, 1176 E. McKenzie Road.

Bleill, a U.S. Marine from Greenfield who lost both legs in Iraq in 2006, tells his inspiring story of courage and perseverance.

Cost is $10 and includes burgers, brats, and dogs, plus an epic battle to end the evening.Check-in and food serving begin at 6 p.m., followed by Bleill sharing at 7 and the “epic battle from 9 to 10. To register, go to parkchapel.org/events.

District leader to speak at Fortville Nazarene

FORTVILLE — Fortville Church of the Nazarene plans a day of worship with two guests beginning at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, April 30. Kim McLean from Nashville, Tennessee, will sing and lead worship.

McLean has recorded more than 400 songs and is a Come to the Fire women’s conference board member.

Dr. Ron Blake will speak. He is in his sixth year as district superintendent of the Indianapolis District Church of the Nazarene.

Families are welcome. A love offering will be collected for McLean’s music ministry.

Church spring dinner benefits Habitat build

WILLOW BRANCH — A dinner to raise money for a local Habitat for Humanity build is set for 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday (April 29) at Willow Branch United Methodist Church, 6244 N. Thomas St.

The menu features cube steak or homemade chicken and noodles along with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, corn, and a variety of homemade salads and desserts.

Time Trio to perform April 30 in Greenfield

GREENFIELD — Redeem the Time Trio will be at Mt. Lebanon United Methodist, 3447 S. State Road 9, on April 30. The group will perform during a portion of the worship service, which starts at 10:30 a.m.

Charottesville church revival starts Sunday

CHARLOTTESVILLE — Revival services are set for Sunday through Wednesday at Charlottesville Friends Church.

Jack Holliday will be the evangelist, with Fred Powers as song leader and Rowena Holliday as pianist.

Services Sunday will begin at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Services Monday through Wednesday are set for 7 p.m. daily.

The church is on Carthage Road, four blocks south of U.S. 40.

Mt. Lebanon fish fry set for middle of May

GREENFIELD — Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church will serve its annual fish fry from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 20 at the church, 3447 S. State Road 9.

The menu will include fish, French fries, hush puppies, baked beans, slaw, desserts and beverages. Hot dogs and carry-out will also be available. Donations will be accepted, with proceeds used for missions.
