HANCOCK COUNTY — Mt. Vernon Community School Corp. will host kindergarten registration days at three district elementary schools.

Students must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2017, in order to attend kindergarten and 6 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2017, to attend first grade. All kindergarten students must register before the end of this school year to prepare the number of teachers needed to keep class size low. Registration events will be noon to 7 p.m. April 11 at Fortville Elementary School, N. County Road 200W, Fortville; April 12 at Mt. Comfort Elementary School, 1806 W. State Road 234, Greenfield; and April 13, at McCordsville Elementary School, 7177 N. County Road 600W, McCordsville.

Students and parents may register at any of the three sites; let organizers know which school the student will be attending. Parents must bring: the student, who will be screened for vision, hearing and abilities; copy of birth certificate; copy of immunization records; proof of residency — a bill with name and address; driver’s license or identification card; social security card and/or number; copy of court papers if there is any custody information; and individualized education plan if applicable.
