County services mark Ash Wednesday

HANCOCK COUNTY — On Wednesday, Christians around the world will observe Ash Wednesday. It’s the first day of Lent, the season leading up to Easter, the celebration of Jesus’ resurrection.

These local churches have services planned:

St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church: 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

St. James Lutheran Church (North American Lutheran Convention): 7 p.m.

St. John United Church of Christ (Communion Service): 7 p.m.

Curry’s Chapel United Methodist Church: 7 p.m.

First Presbyterian Church: 7 p.m.

Fortville United Methodist Church: 7 p.m.

Mohawk United Methodist Church 7 p.m.

Mt. Comfort United Methodist Church of the Risen Christ: 6 p.m.

Otterbein United Methodist Church: 7 p.m.

Trinity Park United Methodist Church: 7 p.m.

Willow Branch United Methodist Church: 6:30 p.m.

Church offers session for senior citizens

GREENFIELD — Sugar Creek Baptist Church in Greenfield will have a new time for its Sing and Share time for Golden Living Nursing Home residents. At 5:30 p.m. the third Sunday of the month, the group will gather for singing and study, starting Feb. 19.

McCordsville church to serve ham and beans

McCORDSVILLE — McCordsville United Methodist Church will serve a a community dinner of ham and beans from 4:30 to 7 p.m. March 11 at the church, 6247 W. Broadway.

Donations will be accepted.

Furniture needed for local church outreach

GREENFIELD — A local furniture ministry needs donations of specific types of furniture and appliances that have run low in its warehouse.

St. Michael Catholic Church coordinates the furniture ministry, partnering with Love INC. In some categories, there is a waiting list for items.

These are the items sought:

Any bed frame — twin, full or queen

Full-size box spring — full

Mattresses — twin or full

Washers and dryers

Dressers or chests of drawers

Call Love INC at 317-468-6300 if you have any of these items to donate and want to arrange a time for pick-up.

Church card party set for Saturday

GREENFIELD — Mohawk United Methodist Church will offer a card party at 6:30 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 25) in the fellowship hall at the church, 2045 W. County Road 400N.
