GREENFIELD — Local elementary school students are being challenged to bring in used shoes for a shoe recycling challenge.

Hancock County Solid Waste Management District is hosting the contest Jan. 23 to Feb. 24, in which students are asked to bring pairs of shoes, kept together with rubber bands, to their homeroom teachers.

The participating school that brings in the most shoes will win a trophy, and the class that brings in the most shoes will receive reusable water bottles. The “No Cold Feet” shoe recycling challenge is to benefit changingfootprints.com.
