Youth reading program Bentley’s Buddies and Friends seeks additional canine buddies

Bentley’s Buddies and Friends needs to increase its pack size. Dogs and their owners are needed to volunteer as reading buddies to assist the children of Hancock County develop their reading skills, confidence and love of reading. Dogs must be “kid friendly,” love hugs and enjoy being petted by children.

There are openings for reading buddies in: Southern Hancock Schools, Greenfield Central Community Schools and Mt. Comfort Elementary. Furry reading buddies are paired with a classroom where the buddy and its owner will volunteer one day per week. The day will be agreed upon by the owner and their assigned teacher. There is no travel for training purposes outside of Hancock County.
