Police investigate car break-ins

GREENFIELD — At least eight cars parked along four Fortville streets were broken into overnight Wednesday, according to police.

Hancock County dispatchers received a string of 911 calls from residents on Leland, Ohio, Michigan and Staat streets in Fortville.

The callers reported their unlocked cars had been rifled through. Nothing of value was taken, police said.

One resident reported minor damage to their car’s glove compartment, according to police reports.

Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles and remove all valuable items from their vehicles each evening.

Fortville detectives are investigating the break-ins.
