Genevieve “Gennie” Miller Hughes, 92, Fishers, passed away September 12, 2016. She was born April 13, 1924, in Urbana, Ohio, to the late Marshall and Freida Kauffman Miller.
Gennie married Alton Hughes, and he preceded her in death in 2001, after 57 years of marriage. Gennie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was a longtime member of Castleton Christian Church and volunteer at Community Surgery Center North. She enjoyed making puppy pillows for Community Hospital North, was an avid gardener, but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.
Gennie is survived by her daughters, Bonnie (John) Speer and Deborah (Gregg) Feigh; brother, Charles “Jim” (Peg) Miller; sister, Myrna Stanley; sister-in-law, Ruth Miller; grandchildren, Angie (Chris) Hoye, John Tyler Speer, Erica (Nathan) Shipley, Jacob Feigh and Madison Feigh; and great-grandchildren, Ashley Wilson, Colton Wilson and David Hoye.
A son, Neil Hughes; four brothers; and two sisters, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be from 10:30 am until the time of service at 1:30 p.m., Friday, September 16, at Castleton Christian Church, 7214 Hague Rd.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Autism Society of Indiana. Final care and arrangements are entrusted to Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel.
