Crash closes U.S. 40 near Cumberland

UPDATE: A man was airlifted to an Indianapolis hospital with injuries to his chest and arms, police broadcasts indicate.  

Two others were taken to area hospitals by ambulance. 

The roadway has been cleared and is now open to traffic.

GREENFIELD — Emergency crews are headed to the scene of a car crash along U.S. 40 near the Hancock-Marion county line.

East- and westbound traffic is at a standstill in the 12100 block of E. Washington Street in Indianapolis where the accident occurred. 

Three people are reportedly injured, and a helicopter has been called to help transport one patient to a nearby hospital, according to police broadcasts.
