Royals boosters hosting football tailgate dinner

The Eastern Hancock Athletic Boosters will host a Porkburger Dinner prior to the Royals football home opener on Friday night.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. and continue until kickoff at 7 p.m. The dinner will take place north of the baseball field.

Pre-sale dinner tickets are $6 and can be purchased in the Eastern Hancock athletics office all week. Cost the night of the game is $7.

Eastern Hancock will play Greenfield-Central for the first time in school history.

New Pal travel hoops tryouts approaching

The New Palestine girls travel basketball team is conducting open tryouts Monday.

All players in Grades 3 through 8 are invited to attend. The tryouts will be conducted at New Palestine High School and run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Marauders All-Sport Passes available

All-Sport passes for the 2016-17 season are on sale at the Mt. Vernon High School athletics office.

Pricing is $85 for adults, $65 for students, $45 for senior citizens and $225 for a family. The All-Sport passes are good for all regular-season contests, excluding HHC and IHSAA tournament events.

Marauders fans can purchase tickets for Mt. Vernon’s football game at Lucas Oil Stadium on Oct. 8 at a discounted rate with an All-Sport pass. With an All-Sport pass, tickets are $9 for adults and $6 for students.

Marauders volleyball recognized in rankings

The Mt. Vernon girls volleyball team was recognized in this week’s Class 4A rankings released by the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association.

The Marauders received one point in the voting, ranking them 24th in the state. Defending state champion Cathedral was first overall with 130 points.

Golf outing for Cougar basketball upcoming

The Greenfield-Central boys basketball golf outing is scheduled for Aug. 28 at Arrowhead Golf Course.

The event is a four-person preferred outing. A shotgun start at 1 p.m. will open the day. BBQ’n Fools is catering the outing.

The cost to play is $70 per player or $280 per team.
