NEW PALESTINE — Family members and friends look back on Rosie Faut’s life and remember a woman who went out of her way to teach others the ins and outs of the horse industry.

Around town, they called her “the horse lady” — a title fitting for a woman who for more than 60 years trained horses and young riders at her New Palestine farm. She was instrumental, family and friends say, in starting the local 4-H horse and pony shows.

Faut died Friday following a heart attack; she was 86.
