Parks and Recreation plans bird-watching group

GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Parks and Recreation Department seeks adults and families interested in becoming part of a bird-watching group.

Groups will meet at 7 a.m. Saturdays and rotate throughout city parks. For more information or to be put on an interest list, call 317-477-4340.

Friends of the Library sets bargain book sale

GREENFIELD — The Friends of the Library will offer a book sale from Aug. 12 to 16 at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road.

Artists’ reception planned at Twenty North Gallery

GREENFIELD — Twenty North Gallery, 20 N. State St., will host a reception from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in honor of the artists represented in their current exhibit, “The Beauty of Hancock County.”

Stargaze in your own backyard to see shower

NORTHERN HEMISPHERE — Many state parks are organizing stargazing events for the annual Perseid meteor shower, but it’s free to watch from your backyard.

According to space.com, this year’s crop of meteors could be double what it has been in previous years. The best nights for sky-watching are today and Friday.
