FOUNTAINTOWN — An autopsy showed a baby who was found unresponsive in his parents’ home suffocated, officials said Thursday.

A 2-month-old Fountaintown boy was sleeping in an adult-size bed Wednesday with his mother, who woke to find the baby was blue and cold to the touch, dispatch records show.

An autopsy performed Thursday in Marion County revealed the child suffocated while he was sleeping, detectives said.

The child’s mother called 911 Wednesday afternoon and started CPR while emergency crews responded to her home in the 500 block of U.S. 52 in Fountaintown.

The baby was taken to Hancock Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
