Greenfield examining electric utility rates

GREENFIELD — City officials are examining electric utility rates to determine whether adjustments to what consumers pay for power are necessary.

City officials are working with the Indiana Municipality Power Agency to perform the study, which will require gathering and analyzing data.

Officials don’t expect an across-the-board increase to electric rates for city customers will be necessary but say adjustments to rates could result from the study.

The study, which will cost the city an estimated $32,500, is expected to be complete in January. Any changes to electric rates will have to be approved by the city council.
