GREENFIELD — A Greenfield man fractured his skull after the ATV he was driving crashed into a pile of rocks Saturday.

Conservation officers who investigated the accident said they believe Brett Granger, 47, was drunk when he climbed onto a four-wheeler and crashed near his home in the 300 block of Johnson Drive in Greenfield, investigators said.

Granger had been driving the device back and forth to a wedding nearby, said Indiana Conservation Officer Jet Quillen.

He was driving along a long driveway just before 7 p.m. when he crashed, investigators said. He was not wearing a helmet at the time.

Granger was taken to Hancock Regional Hospital with head and chest injuries before being transferred by ambulance to St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Quillen said tests showed Granger had a slight fracture to his skull. He is listed in stable condition and is expected to recover.

Preliminary tests showed Granger had a blood-alcohol content of .25 percent, records show. No charges have been filed.
