Howard Andrew Thompson, 80, Farmersburg, and formerly of Greenfield, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at 11:05 AM in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born in Indianapolis on January 23, 1936, to Cyril Thompson and Virginia Vogt Thompson.

He retired in 2001 as a custodian at Greenfield Central High School, and was a former town Councilman in Farmersburg. Howard’s memberships include the Greenfield Moose Lodge, where he had served as Past Governor and Friends of Gettysburg Foundation.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Kreider Thompson, whom he married February 14, 1981; and children, John Thompson, Rita Dooley, Hope Ann Morris, James Leonard Thompson, and Jennifer Hicks. Also surviving are his siblings, James Thompson, Janet Kienzle, Wilfred Thompson, and Melissa Young; as well as nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Michael Thompson and Christopher Stevens; and three siblings, Frederick Thompson, Rita Morgan, and Michael Thompson.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday from Noon to 2 p.m. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Funeral services for Howard will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 24, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel with Pastor John Turner officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Civil War Trust, 1140 Professional Ct, Hagerstown, MD 21740, in his memory.
