VALPARAISO — Once teammates, now competitors, Chris Sosnowski and Tyler Beeson reunited during the Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships this spring.

The former Greenfield-Central Cougars participated in the hammer throw last month at Warren G. Hoger Track at Valparaiso University.

Sosnowski, a senior for the host Crusaders, placed fourth in the event with a throw of 54.54 meters. Beeson, a sophomore at Oakland University, was seventh with a toss of 50.21 meters.

The competition consisted for 20 throwers, with 15 earning placement. Youngstown State’s Conner Neu won with a reach of 69.61 meters.

Sosnowski’s effort was a personal best. Beeson hit a new best with his throw as well.

Sosnowski also was 15th in the discus at 39.33 meters. Beeson added a 15th placement in the shot put at 13.62 meters.

Oakland’s men’s team finished third overall with 165 points, while Valparaiso was fourth with 102. The Crusaders’ placement matched their best-ever finish in the Horizon League.

The Youngstown State Penguins were crown team champions in both the men’s and women’s meets.
