Ronald Harlan Hansen, 86 of Indianapolis, passed away May 3, 2016. He was born December 29, 1929, in Vermillion, South Dakota.

Ron served his country as a sergeant in the Army during the Korean War. He received his bachelor’s degree from Butler University in 1956. Ron was employed by Ford Motor Company as a cost accountant from 1956 until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Amity United Methodist Church in Greenfield.

Ron learned the value of a dollar with the untimely death of his father when he was 12. He went to work early in his life to help support his mother and two brothers. One of his first jobs was to start the coal furnace early each Sunday morning before church started.

Ever the optimist, his reply to the question of how he was doing, regardless of the true state of his health, was always, “Almost perfect!” He was loved by all and will be missed by many.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jerry. Ron and Jerry were married in 1975, combining their children for one big family. He is survived by those children, Michael (Stacey), Ronald, Jr. (Phyllis), Patrick (Sue), Linda (John) Moor, Stephen (Daphne), Martin (Kathy) Miner, III, Mark Miner and Marcie Clark. Adding to the family are ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is survived by two brothers, Gordon and Elwin Hansen. He is also survived by his first wife, Marilue Collier.
