Robert Eugene Vaughn Sr., 91, of Margate Fla., died at VITAS Hospice on April 18, 2016. He was born April 16, 1925, in Indianapolis to Mabel (Kirkwood) and Roscoe Vaughn.

Bob grew up in Indianapolis Fountain Square and attended Manuel High School. He joined the Navy in 1943 serving in both the Mediterranean and Pacific during World War II on the Minesweepers USS Cowie and USS Pinnacle.

In 1947, Bob married Frances Gandee and made home in Chicken Hill near New Palestine for 23 years raising six children and hosting many others. He was Plant Engineer at Fairmont Glassworks. In New Palestine, he was a member of the Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge (past Master). Bob also spent countless hours with youth organizations such as New Palestine Little League (team manager, league president), Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops (scout master of both) and the Masonic DeMolay.

Upon moving to Margate, Fla., in 1970, Bob and his family attended Church of the Nazarene and he worked as a Plumbing Engineer and a Service Plumber until retirement.

Bob is survived by his wife, Frankie; sons, Bob Jr., Mike, Terr, Tom and John; daughter, Pam; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister; half-brother; and one grandson.

A Memorial Service and Honor Guard Ceremony will be May 28, at 9:30 am at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Fla.
