Actress set to portray author Stratton-Porter

GREENFIELD — Glory-June Greiff will present a solo performance on Hoosier naturalist, novelist and nature photographer Gene Stratton-Porter at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road.

Stratton-Porter (1863-1924) wrote several best-selling books with an estimated 50 million readers around the world. Her novel, “A Girl of the Limberlost,” was adapted into film four times.

She used her celebrity to support the conservation of the Limberlost Swamp in Geneva, Indiana. Greiff herself is a conservationist who has worked to preserve many of Indiana locations that are now protected on the National Register of Historic Places. Boys and Girls Club set to sponsors Easter egg hunt

GREENFIELD — The Hancock County Boys & Girls Club of Hancock County will host an Easter Egg Hunt at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Boys & Girls Club, 715 E. Lincoln St.

Museum offering free admission for Circus Day

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Historical Society, 450 W. Ohio St., offers free admission to its 15th annual Circus Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The Hampel Family Circus returns with acts such as the Marvelous Mind Reading Show and the Professor Presto Magic Show.

The Amazing World of Animals also returns to the History Center with live animal shows that explore the habitats of the world.

Art school presents Japanese bamboo art

INDIANAPOLIS — The Herron School of Art and Design, 735 W. New York St., presents a rare exhibit of Japanese bamboo art now through April 16.

The artifacts belong to Rusty and Ann Harrison, who began collecting bamboo art decades ago. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
