Regional basketball tickets now on sale

Tickets for Saturday’s Decatur Central Regional are on sale now at the Greenfield-Central athletics office.

Admission for both sessions is priced at $10 per person and $7 per session, according to the IHSAA.

The Class 4A 10th-ranked Greenfield-Central girls basketball team (22-4) will play No. 9 Plainfield (24-2) in the regional semifinals at noon Saturday. The championship game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

No. 5 Indianapolis Roncalli (22-4) and No. 3 Lawrence North (20-3) will play in the other regional semifinal at 10 a.m.

Greenfield-Central slates softball camp

The Greenfield-Central Cougars softball team will conduct its annual spring camp Feb. 27 in the fieldhouse at the high school.

The camp will be broken into two age divisions and times. For girls 10 and younger, the camp will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., while girls 11 and older will go from 2 to 5 p.m.

The cost for the camp is $35 per person and will include pizza and a T-shirt for all players. The camp will be conducted by Greenfield-Central varsity softball coach Jason Stewart, his assistant coaches and the girls 2016 Cougars team.

The maximum spots available for the camp is 50 girls, so early registration is encouraged. The deadline to signup for the camp is Feb. 20.

Cougars nominated for weekly coaches award

Greenfield-Central’s Tate Hall and Madison Wise were both nominated for the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association’s Player of the Week (Feb. 1 to 6) in District 2.

Hall, a senior, helped the Class 4A Cougars improve to 15-4 and pushed their winning streak to six straight games with wins against Delta and Greenwood to earn the recognition.

The University of Indianapolis signee finished with 13 points and 13 rebounds last Thursday as the Cougars defeated Hoosier Heritage Conference foe Delta 49-27.

Hall later posted a team-high 23 points, eight rebounds and four assists in his team’s come-from-behind win versus Greenwood 59-55 on Saturday.

Wise led the No. 10 Cougars to the Sectional 9 title with a game-high 35 points in the championship game last Saturday.

In Friday night’s 58-50 semifinal victory versus Pendleton Heights, the junior had 27 points and eight rebounds. She finished with 21 points in Greenfield-Central’s 40-37 opening-round win against New Castle last Tuesday.
