Sylvia Jean Myers, 88, of New Palestine, went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Feb. 6, 2016. Sylvia was born Aug. 7, 1927, in Indianapolis.
She was a 1944 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School. She married Joseph E. Myers, September 17, 1947. Sylvia worked at Indiana Bell Telephone Company for over 20 years.
She was a charter member of Eastgate Christian Church and a current member of Franklin Road Baptist Church. Sylvia faithfully taught Sunday School 4th and 5th graders for over 40 years. Sylvia was very active in her church, participating in mission circles, VBS, and prayer groups. She loved to sing and play the piano, singing praises to her Lord and Saviour.
Sylvia is survived by her loving husband, of 68 years, Joe Myers. Together, they had three daughters, Shery Myers Franceschini, who preceded her in death, (Michael), Missy Myers Shadday (Paul), and Yvonne Myers Drake (Jeff). She has seven grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren who adored her.
Mama loved us all so well and let her light shine. She loved Jesus with her whole heart and was always spreading the good news. We praise God for her life.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Franklin Road Baptist Church, 59 N. Franklin Rd. with funeral services Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, at 11 a.m.
