Ambassadors to perform concert at library

GREENFIELD — The Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, celebrates the launch of Indiana’s bicentennial year with a concert by the Indiana Old-Time Ambassadors from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 7.

Hear Deb Shebish on fiddle, D. Mark Conway on bass, Johnandrew Bellner on guitar and Erik Peterson on banjo.

The Indiana Old-Time Ambassadors sing and play a mix of vintage fiddle tunes and ballads that celebrate the music of native Hoosiers past and present.

Parks department offering programs for all ages

GREENFIELD — The new year is a great time to try something new. The Greenfield Parks & Recreation Department offers a variety of activities and workshops for all ages at the Patricia Elmore Center, 280 Apple St.

» Bingo group meets from noon to 1 p.m. every Monday.

» Chess Club meets from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursdays.

» Groups for woodcarving, line dancing, crochet classes, quilting and sewing, guitar and bridge, euchre and pinochle meet weekly.

‘Eyes of History’ photos on exhibit at Central Library

INDIANAPOLIS — More than 70 winning entries from the “Eyes of History” photography competition are on display through Jan. 10 at the central branch of the Indianapolis Public Library, 40 E. St. Clair St.

This traveling exhibit, presented by the White House New Photographers Association, uses still photographs, video and multimedia to present images from Getty Images, The Washington Post, National Geographic and NPR.

Eclectic musician taking stage at artsgarden

INDIANAPOLIS — Gordon Bonham brings his mix of styles, from the Mississippi Delta to jumpin’ West Coast swing, to the Artsgarden, 110 W. Washington St. from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Jan. 7.

Bonham was a founding member of the critically acclaimed Cooler Kings, followed by the Gordon Bonham Blues Band. He hosts the blues jam at the Slippery Noodle Inn and appears every Monday with the band Soul Bus. Bonham’s music is for anyone who appreciates serious and soulful blues.
