Andrea “Andy” Barbera, 82, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, Dec.27, 2015, at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born on Aug.18, 1933, in Brooklyn, N.Y., as the son of Vito and Maria (Contantino) Barbera.

He was a first sergeant in the Air Force until retiring 1978. He married Sandra (Fields) Low Barbera.

Andy was a member of Masonic Lodge #717 and was also a Shriner. He sang with the Chanters, and is the commander of the VFW. He was also a member of Jesters and an honorary police officer. Andy was also a very talented golfer.

He is survived by his sons, James and Michael Barbera, both of Fla., Andy Joe Barbera of Tenn.; daughter, Theresa (Gary) Ollis of Tenn.; brothers, Joseph Barbera of Calif., Anthony (JoAnn) Barbera of Pa.; stepchildren, Rusty (Terry) Low, Dean (Paula) Low, Darla Conley, all of Greenfield; grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Heather, Richard, Gena, Josh, Christy, Charlie, Caleb, Charles, Brooke, Jacob, Lindsay, Branden and more great-grandchildren than can be counted.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Betty Barbera and two great-grandchildren, Jaxston Conley and Alice Svea Brownlie.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, also at the mortuary. James Banker will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield with full military rites presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent directly to VFW Post 2693, 529 Apple St, Greenfield, IN 4614 or envelopes will be available at the mortuary.
