Event designed for those feeling sadness

HANCOCK COUNTY — Two churches have “Blue Christmas” services planned for those hurting this holiday season. They are designed for those who have experienced loss, are feeling lonely or are depressed or struggling in some way.

“These services have a more quiet mood than the traditional Christmas worship service but are still filled with hope and grace,” Cross of Grace Lutheran Church offered as a description on its website.

McCordsville United Methodist Church’s Blue Christmas service begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church, 6247 W. Broadway, McCordsville.

Cross of Grace Lutheran Church’s Blue Christmas service begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church, 3519 S. County Road 600W, New Palestine.

Live Nativity scene today in Knightstown

KNIGHTSTOWN — St. Rose Catholic Church will present a live Nativity scene from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the church, 8144 U.S. 40 West, Knightstown (across from Knightstown High School).

The public is invited to stop and visit at the manger scene, and parents are welcome to take photos of their children at the scene.

This is the 15th year the Nativity scene has been presented at St. Rose.

Buck Creek presenting mini-musical ‘Glory’

CUMBERLAND — The Praise Choir of Buck Creek Baptist Church will present the mini-musical “Glory to the Newborn King” during the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday. Everyone in attendance will receive a goodie bag and a special gift.

Children’s party to include movie

McCORDSVILLE — A children’s Christmas party is set for 6 to 8 p.m. today at McCordsville United Methodist Church.

It will feature a movie, refreshments and special treats. An adult must stay with children attending the party.

Concert set for Sunday at St. Michael church

GREENFIELD — A Christmas concert is set for 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Michael Catholic Church, 513 Jefferson Blvd.

Daniel Farrell and Erin Hays will be accompanied by Cindy Powers.

An offering will be accepted to benefit the parish youth mission trip.

Everyone is welcome.

Eden kids to perform Christmas program

EDEN — Children of Eden United Methodist Church will present the program “Christmas Fun” at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.

‘Festival of Carols’ planned at Bradley

GREENFIELD — Bradley United Methodist Church presents the Christmas choir concert “Festival of Carols” in the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. services Sunday.

Buck Creek to present Christmas cantata

CUMBERLAND — Buck Creek Baptist Church will present a Christmas cantata at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Children’s production is Sunday night

GREENFIELD — Calvary Children’s Theatre will perform “The Late Great Potentate” at 6 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Baptist Church, 1450 W. Main St.

Celebration to feature cantata, Santa visit

McCORDSVILLE — McCordsville United Methodist Church Choir will perform the cantata “Light Looked Down and the Word Became Flesh” at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The choir is under the direction of Regina Bowen.

A party will follow in the church fellowship hall, with a visit from Santa.
