GREENFIELD — A Greenfield man accused of sexually assaulting a minor will spend a year and a half at Hancock County Community Corrections, followed by the same amount of time on probation, after accepting a plea deal from prosecutors, according to court records.

Jason Nowell, 36, agreed to plead guilty to a charge of sexual performance before a minor. A young girl in 2014 told police Nowell touched her inappropriately and tried to have sex with her.

Nowell is not allowed to be alone with anyone under the age of 16 until further court order, and he cannot contact the victim in the case, court records state.

Nowell originally faced Class B felony charges of child molest and criminal deviate conduct. He pleaded to a Class D felony.
