Homemakers calling for Riley Festival entries

GREENFIELD — Tuttle Orchards and Hancock County Extension Homemakers invite all Hancock County bakers to enter the Baker’s Best Pumpkin Baking Contest on Sept. 26 at the Hancock County Purdue Extension Office Meeting Room, 802 N. Apple St. Entries are accepted from 9 to 10 a.m., and judging begins at 10:15 a.m. Placings are announced as the classes are judged, and each category champion will receive $25 and qualify for the Grand Champion Award. Classes for entry are: Six cookies or dessert bars; one cake; one pie; one loaf of bread (either quick or yeast); other baked pumpkin product. One entry per class per person, and no meat products or cheesecakes are allowed. Information and entry forms are available at the Riley Festival Office, 312 E. Community Creates, state art fair call for entries

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Museum is seeking artists to participate in the 13th anniversary of the Indiana Art Fair, which will take place Feb. 12 and 13. If you are an artist and interested in being part of the show, visit the museum’s website at indianamuseum.org to download the artist call-out letter and application. Deadline for entry is Oct. 2.

Community Creates is a community art competition sponsored by the Hamilton County Artists’ Association. All artists, professional and nonprofessional, are encouraged to enter for the opportunity to show their art and compete for cash awards. Visit hcaa-in.org for more information and how to enter. Buck Creek Playhouse auditioning for ‘Scrooge’

INDIANAPOLIS — Buck Creek Playhouse will conduct open auditions for “Scrooge the Musical” by Leslie Bricusse at 7 p.m. Sept. 28 and 29 at the playhouse, 11150 Southeastern Ave. Director William Cooper is looking for a group of seven men, seven women, three boys and four girls for this holiday production. Auditioners should come with 16 to 20 measures of a song (verse and a chorus) in the correct key.

An accompanist will be provided. You may be asked to read from the script. All roles are available. ”Scrooge the Musical” is scheduled for nine performances, weekends Dec. 4 to 20. Bring a list of conflicts from October through December.
