United Way seeks volunteers for literacy program

HANCOCK COUNTY — United Way of Central Indiana’s Hancock County office is recruiting volunteers for its ReadUP program.

The program pairs volunteers with third-graders who are struggling to read at their grade level. Volunteers will meet with students one hour per week and practice vocabulary, fluency and comprehension to get students up to grade-level literacy.

All volunteers must pass a background check and will receive training. The program starts in early September. For additional information, or to register online, visit uwci.org/register-for-readup-hancock.
