Male gospel trio to perform concert
GREENFIELD — Upward Way, a male gospel trio, will be in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Bible Methodist Church, 4465 N. Fortville Pike.
Prayer event focuses on students, schools
GREENFIELD — Changing Hearts will host a prayer service at 7 p.m. Thursday at St. Michael Catholic Church, 519 Jefferson Blvd. The focus will be praying for parents, teachers and students in anticipation of the 2015-16 school year. All Christians are welcome to participate.
Immediately following the service, refreshments will be served in the Father Severin Life Center.
Community dinner set with ice cream social
McCORDSVILLE — McCordsville United Methodist Church’s next Second Saturday Community Dinner is set for 4:30 to 7 p.m. today. Summer favorites such as hot dogs and chips will be served, along with an ice cream social.
A free-will offering for the meal will be accepted and will benefit the church.

Event raises money for food pantry
CARTHAGE — The Blue River Community Harvest of Carthage’s annual Summerfest Fundraiser is set for 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 1 in downtown Carthage.
Included in the festivities on Mill Street and the Community Center are more than 20 arts and crafts vendors, BOJO’s pork BBQ and homemade desserts, a 5K run/walk, musical entertainment and other events to be announced.
All proceeds from run/walk/bike tour registrations and food will go to the BRCH Food Pantry. A donation station will be available for those who wish to donate canned food or non-perishable items (soap, diapers, pasta, etc.) to the food pantry.
New to Summerfest this year is the Covered Bridge Bike Tour of Northern Rush County, co-sponsored by the Raintree Bicycle Club. There will be 15-, 28- and 40-mile route options, Rush County roads and scenery, road support and up to three covered bridges, depending on the route.
Clubs and serious cyclists are welcome, and people under 18 should be accompanied by an adult. A signed consent and liability form will be required on the day of the event.

Motorcycle riders gather for fellowship
GREENFIELD — Members of the Crossroad Riders, the Greenfield chapter of the Christian Motorcyclist Association, meet at 9 a.m. the third Saturday of most months at Jim Dandy restaurant and also gather to enjoy rides together.

St. Thomas Festival Weekend upcoming
FORTVILLE —The St. Thomas Festival Weekend is scheduled for July 31 and Aug. 1, at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 523 S. Merrill St., Fortville.
Friday is St. Thomas Monte Carlo Night. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
There will be blackjack, Texas poker chuck-a-luck, roulette, reverse raffle and tip boards.
The cost is $15 per person and $25 per couple. Admission includes food, soft drinks, beer and wine coolers. People must be 21 or older to attend.
The “Ol’ Time Country Fun” summer festival for all ages is planned for 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.
There will be a homemade chicken noodle dinner, ice cream, children’s games, live music, bingo, a blood drive, silent auction, lemon shakeups, farmers market, raffles and church tours.
Proceeds from the weekend benefit the church.
