County Special Olympics fundraisers approaching
The Hancock County Indiana Special Olympics is hosting two fundraising projects this month.
On Saturday, the nonprofit organization is conducting a car wash at the Express Car Wash located at 1102 N. State St. The event will run from 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will assist in cleaning and drying cars for a free-will offering.
On Wednesday, a Jim Dandy Night will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. A percentage of the food purchased will be donated to the Hancock County Indiana Special Olympics.

Teen leads rain-delayed Indiana championship
Due to inclement weather, Tuesday’s round of the 100th Indiana Open Championship at The Brickyard Crossing was postponed until Wednesday.
The delay didn’t effect 18-year-old Timothy Hildebrand. The incoming Purdue golfer finished his final two holes at 2-under-par for a second round total of 4-under-par 68. Combined with his first-round score of 67, he carries a three-shot lead into the 36-hole finale.
Hildebrand will continue his golf career at Purdue this fall and was a member of the 2014-15 Indiana High School Athletic Association golf team state champion Westfield Shamrocks.
