Jerry Baughman, 90, of Portland, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Center. Jerry was born May 6, 1925, in Bryant, Ind., the son of Ralph and Marjorie (Ford) Baughman. He was married to Freda Hart on Sept. 1, 1946. He was a 1946 graduate of Portland High School.
He was a Navy Veteran of WWII, serving on the aircraft carrier, USS Savo Island.
He retired from Delco Remy in Muncie, after 30 years and was a member of the Portland American Legion Post 211.
Survivors Include, his beloved wife, Freda Baughman, Portland; three daughters, Pamela (Jim) Gillett of New Palestine, Margie DeVoss of Indianapolis and Claudia (Richard) Jones of Portland; nephew, Richard (Rosa) Baughman of Naples, Italy; five grandchildren and seven great- grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Friday, July 10, 2015, in the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland, with funeral services immediately following in the funeral home. Pastor Jason Rice will officiate the services and burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery, west of Bryant. American Legion Post 211 will be in charge of military rites at the cemetery.
