Partiers, beware: Task force will patrol for graduation

GREENFIELD — The Hancock County’s Underage Drinking Task Force is planning extra patrols for upcoming graduation weekends to monitor parties where minors might be drinking alcohol, said Tim Retherford, the executive director of Neighborhoods Against Substance Abuse.

The task force broke up two large parties in New Palestine and Greenfield during Memorial Day weekend, Retherford said. Nine adults and 14 juveniles were arrested for either minor alcohol possession or contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

An anonymous tip line operated by the task force has helped law enforcement to keep teen parties in check, police said. Parties can be reported by calling 477-2789.
