Lewis Russell Hutcheson, 87, of Somerset, Ind., died at 12:35 p.m., Saturday May 9, 2015, at Parkview Wabash Hospital. He was born Feb. 9, 1928, in Indianapolis, to Hubert and Mildred (Bolander) Hutcheson.

Lewis served in the Navy from 1948-1952 on the USS Wasp aircraft carrier. He married Virignia Ruth Gates, she preceded him in death. He worked for Penn Central and Norfolk-Southern Railroads, owned Hutch's Gun Shop in Fortville in 1964, owned a shoe shop in Wabash in the late 1970's, and sold shoes on the road. He attended Woodlawn United Methodist Church and was a member of the Fortville VFW. He enjoyed flea marketing, antiquing, garage sales, hunting bargains, gunsmithing, camping, fishing, and watching old western films.

He is survived by three children, Barbara Terrell of Fortville, Donna (Michael) Fouts of Somerset, and Donald Hutcheson of Wabash; five grandchildren, Danny (Nicole) Shetterley of Fortville, Amanda (Jeff) Hodges of Chesterfield, Va., Damin Long and Dawn (Grant) Kelley both of Wabash, Ind., and Sara (Brantley) See of Macy, Ind.; eight great- grandchildren, Nick, Olivia, Emma, Kaylee, Jaxson, Noah, Rhagan, and Addison; two great- great- grandchildren, Cameron and Nick; sister, Glenna McFadden of Wisc. and significant other, Betty Walters of Wabash.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call 4 – 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, and from 2-3 p.m. Thursday at Fortville.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 3 p.m., Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Gravel Lawn Cemetery Chapel, Fortville with Pastor Herb Hughs officiating.

Preferred memorial is Wabash-Miami Home Health Care and Hospice.
