Joann Hammer, 80, of Shirley, passed away Tuesday, Nov.25, 2014, at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield. She was born May 17, 1934, in Hancock Co., the daughter of the late Everett and Ada (Bolander) Smith.
Joann was a loving mother and homemaker for her family. She was a cook for the Eastern Hancock High School for 25 years and a member of the Shiloh Christian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Richard (Holly) Hammer of Indianapolis, Jeffery (Jeanette) Hammer of Indianapolis; three daughters, Teresa (Wendell) Hester of Shirley, Kathy (the late John) Hancock of Indianapolis, Karen (Brian) Jeffries of Greenfield; brother, Jerry Smith of Wilkinson; brother in law, Donald (Becky) Hammer of Shirley; sister in laws, Joyce Seifert of Marion, Ind. and Norma Jean Smith of Wilkinson; 14 grandchildren and 12 great -grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester; son, Rick Hammer; sister, Betty (Bud) Baer; brothers, Marcus Smith and Robert Smith; sister in law, Ruth Smith and brother in law, William Seifert.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014. Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014, at Condo and Son Funeral Home in Wilkinson with Minister Fred Girdwood officiating. Burial will follow at McCray Cemetery in Wilkinson.
