Carolyn Faye (Merriman) Lopez, 77, of Greenfield, passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born on Sept. 28, 1936, in Greenfield as the daughter of Gerald Merriman and Eva (Wiggins) Merriman. She married Don Lopez on Sept. 3, 1955 in Greenfield.
She worked for Bradley United Methodist Church as a custodian for many years. She also worked for P.N. Hirsh & SNS Dress Shops, Jim Dandy, Stratfords Drug Store and Danner’s. Mrs. Lopez attended Trinity Park United Methodist Church and was involved with the Red Hat Ladies in Greenfield. She loved flower arranging, reading, and traveling.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Don Lopez of Greenfield; son, Mark (Julie) Lopez of Cumberland; daughter, Donna Perkins of Greenfield; sister, Paula (Bill) McKnight of William, Ind.; four grandchildren, Heather, Brandon, Stephen and Paula; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald Merriman and Eva (Wiggins) Merriman; stepmother, Betty Merriman; siblings, Lorraine Gregory, Richard Merriman and Jerry Merriman.
Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at 12 p.m. also at the mortuary. Pastor Joe Merriman will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
