Howard D. Kramer, 92, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at his residence. He was born on Feb. 3, 1922, in Indianapolis as the son of Howard D. Kramer and Leona (Davis) Bloir.

He served in the Marines during WWII. He married Kathleen (Flaherty) on December 7, 1972 in Indianapolis. He worked for IPD Officer for 27 years before retiring. He then worked for Amtrak for 14 years. Mr. Kramer was a member of the American Legion Post #119, St. Michael’s Catholic Church and FOP Local 86. He loved woodworking and trains.

Howard is survived by his wife of 42 years, Kathleen (Flaherty) Kramer of Greenfield; five children, H. Danny Kramer, Gary Kramer, Gregg Kramer, Marcia Brown Denny, and Mark Brown; sister, Virginia Horner; eight grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard D. Kramer and Leona (Davis) Bloir; sisters, Jean Hainer and Betty Young; and brother, Robert Kramer.

Visitation will be held 4 until 8 p.m.on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, from  at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, also at the mortuary.  Msgr. William Stumpf will be officiating.  Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield with full military rites be presented by the Greenfield Veterans Honor Guard.
