Jerry D. Martin, 72, of Indianapolis, passed away Aug. 30, 2014. He was born Oct. 1, 1941, to the late Everett R. and Lorine Jones Martin. Jerry was a 1959 graduate of Warren Central High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Indiana University in 1966.
Jerry served his country in the Navy, and was employed in Provider Relations, Education and Product Development for Anthem Blue Cross-Blue Shield. Following retirement, he became an entrepreneur, including the ownership of Castleton Trophy & Gifts.
Jerry was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Mystic Tie Lodge #398 F&AM, Scottish Rite, York Rite and the Murat Shrine.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Mary A. Martin; children, Kellee Peek and Jim Martin, and their mother, Linda Harley Martin; grandchildren, Megan Moore, Madisen Martin, Cross and Laney Peek; brother, Lauren Martin (Melissa Newton); nephews, Benjamin and Evan Martin; two stepchildren; and one stepgranddaughter.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St. with funeral services Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shrine Children’s Transportation Fund and/or the American Diabetes Association.
