Mary Jo Cooper, 83, of New Palestine passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014. She was born Jan. 8, 1931, in Indianapolis to the late Carl P. and Elsie Schlenker.
Mary Jo loved gardening and flowers, as well as spending time being social with her friends. She lived a simple life, but showed extravagant love to her family, especially her grandchildren. Christmas and other holidays will always be remembered by her baking and delicious trays of treats.
She is survived by her sons, Robin (Pam) Cooper and Dean Cooper; her grandson, Clay Cooper; stepgrandsons, Carl and Adam Wemple; and 5 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mary Jo is preceded in death by her husband, Walter A. Cooper and her brother, Bob Schlenker.
Friends may call from 12 p.m. until time of service. A Funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 5, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis. Interment will follow at the Washington Park East Cemetery.
