Deborah K. (Townsend) Metheny, 62, of Greenfield, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014, at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was born on Nov. 14, 1951, in Indianapolis, as the daughter of Billy and Donna (Garsnett) Townsend. She graduated from Greenfield High School in 1970. She married Edward Metheny in 1994, in Greenfield.

She worked for Kroger as a cashier for many years. Deborah liked to crochet, read, play on the computer, poker games, karaoke, art, and cooking. She most of all enjoyed being with your grandchildren and family. Many who knew her knew how she loved to talk and tell stories.

She is survived by her son, Michael Sparks of Indianapolis; mother, Donna (Garsnett) Townsend; brothers, Billy (Annette) Townsend, Jimmy Townsend, Bruce (Debbie) Townsend, and Kevin Townsend all of Greenfield; sisters, Opal (Buster) Hubble, Brenda Townsend, and Vicki (Daryl) Thomas all of Greenfield; and two grandchildren, Dravin and Chloe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Metheny; father, Billy Townsend, sister-in-law, Linda; grandparents, Bill & Violet Kennedy; uncle, Don Garsnett; grandpa, Raymond Garsnett; and brother-in-law, Jim Worley.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation. Minister Billy Townsend will be officiating. Burial will follow at New Crown Cemetery in Indianapolis.
