Mark Alan Johnson, 62, a resident of Carmel, passed away Friday morning, Aug. 22, 2014, at Community Hospital North, Indianapolis. He was born Oct. 1, 1951, in  Chicago, to Howard and Marjorie (Wealer) Johnson.

Mark was a graduate of Bloom High School and Illinois State University.  He served in the Army as Chief Warrant Officer during the Vietnam War. Mark retired from Transwood as a transportation specialist, and formerly worked for Liquid Transport and Roadway Trucking. He was a model train enthusiast, an avid reader, loved history, going to museums and traveling. He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his granddaughter Emilia.

He is survived by his mother, Marjorie Johnson of Chicago; wife, Linda J. (Wright) Johnson of Carmel, whom he married on April 21, 2012; daughters, Kimberly Johnson, New York, Ashlee (Donny) Smith; sons, Benjamin Long, Aaron Long all of Greenfield; sister, Kathy Johnson of LaGrange, Ill.; brothers, Bill Johnson of Chicago, Carl Johnson of St. Louis; granddaughter, Emilia Smith; and grandson, Braxton Long.

He was preceded in death by his father, listed above.

Visitation will be 2 hours prior to service at the funeral home. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel of Greenfield. Military rites will be provided by the Greenfield Veteran Honor Guard.
