Doris Louise (Kitterman) Askren, 85, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014, at Lifestyle Adult Care in Clarksville, Ind. She was born Dec. 3, 1928, in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, the only daughter of the late Charles and Jacie (Singleton) Kitterman.
Married on Sept. 6, 1946, her beloved husband of more than 50 years, Bruce Kintner Askren, preceded her in death in Nov. 1998.
A dedicated wife and mother, she lived in Fortville, Ind., for over 50 years where she was a long time member of the Fortville United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Rita (Askren) McFadden and Brenda (Askren) VanWarner both of Wantage, N.J.; her brothers, Kenneth Kitterman of Sebastian, Fla. and Jerry Kitterman of Floyds Knobs, Ind.; three grandchildren, Delinda (Combs) Pierce, and Ryan and Justin VanWarner; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Abigail and Zion Pierce.
She was also preceded in death by their son, Jeffrey Askren; as well as her brother, Arthur Wayne Kitterman.
Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Friday and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
Burial will be in Perseverance Chapel Cemetery near Corydon.
