Robert E. Williams, 86 of Cumberland, passed away Saturday Aug. 2, 2014, at Hancock Regional Hospice, Greenfield.  He was born Aug. 13, 1927, in Daviess County, Indiana to the late Claude and Pearl (Wick) Williams.

Before graduating from high school Robert served during WWII with the Merchant Marines aboard a Liberty ship and after high school served with occupying forces in Japan from 1946-1947. He was a life member of Masonic Lodge in Washington, Ind., and was an accountant with the State of Indiana, U.S. Rubber and P.R. Mallory.

Robert is survived by son, Craig (Susan) Williams of South Carolina, daughter, Kristina (David) Land of Greenfield; grandsons, Edward (Jennifer) Land of Whiteland, IN., Joseph (Teresa) Land of Danville, IN.; and great grandsons, Peyton Land, Logan Land and Benjamin Land.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Wanda (McCracken) Williams; brother, Lawrence Williams; and sister, Mildred Gilley.

A grave side service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday Aug. 6, 2014, at Curry’s Chapel Cemetery, 350 North & 375 East, Greenfield.
