Harold “Bud” Raesner, 90, of New Palestine, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Springhurst Health Campus in Greenfield. He was born on March 11, 1924, in New Palestine, son of Andy and Augusta (Friegel) Raesner. He graduated from New Palestine High School in 1942. He was an Army, World War II Veteran. He married Betty Jean (Conaway) on December 6, 1947.

He was a self-employed general contractor who built many homes in New Palestine and Hancock County and was also a farmer. He was confirmed in the New Palestine Zion Evangelical & Reformed Church, and was a member of the New Palestine Volunteer Fire Department in the 1950’s & 1960’s.

Bud is survived by his nieces and nephews, Sharon (Kevin) Wood of New Palestine, Jeff (Sheri) Harmon of New Palestine and Sharon Dunlavy of Greenfield; and great- nephews, David and Daniel Wood.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Raesner; parents, Andy and Augusta Raesner; infant daughter, Peggy Ann Raesner; and sister, Mary Harmon.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.  to 2 p.m on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation.  Pastor Larry Kleiman will be officiating. Burial will follow at New Palestine Cemetery in New Palestine, Ind.
