Richard Stanley Hartman, 76, of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Community North Hospital. He was born on Dec. 21, 1937, in Indianapolis, as the son of Albert William Anton Hartman and Martha Wilman (Hartman) Hartman. He graduated from Mt. Comfort School in 1956. He was an Army Veteran. He married Jerry Anne (Horn) on Oct. 23, 1999.

Richard had worked for Diamond Chain until retiring in 1977. He also worked for Long Electric and retired in 2000. He currently worked for Auto Dealers Exchange, where he spent time with a lot of other retired men who were not ready to sit idle. He looked forward to those two days a week. Mr. Hartman was a devout member who volunteered many hours of his time with his brother Earl making repairs to St. John United Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Jerry Anne Hartman of Greenfield; sons, Jeff Hartman of Greenfield and Chad (Denise) Hartman of Kokomo; stepsons, John (Mary) Butler of Largo, Fla. and Scott Hall of Carmel; brother, Earl (Jackie) Hartman; sisters, Wanda (Johnny) Horn, Sharon (Jim Jordan) Wildman; grandchildren, Audriana (Adam) Craft, Andrew Hartman, Cyrah Holder, Steven Butler, Audrey Hall; great- grandson, Kyran Craft, Mason Coblentz; stepgrandchildren, Kayla, Erica, and Jessica Coblentz.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Hartman; brother, Abe (Gretchen) Hartman; parents, Albert and Martha Hartman.

Visitation will be from 4 -8 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at St. John United Church of Christ. A funeral service will be held at Noon on Friday, March 7, 2014, at St. John United Church of Christ. Pastor Jimmy Watson and Pastor John Kreuger will be officiating. Burial will follow at St. John United Church of Christ Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to St. John United Church of Christ, 11000 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46229.
