Donald Timmerman, 81, of New Palestine, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014. He was born in Beech Grove, on Oct. 24, 1932. His parents were Elvin F. and Charlotte F. (Huber) Timmerman, of Indianapolis, who preceded him in death. Donald married Joan (Due) Timmerman on November 18, 1956 in Westphalia, Ind.
Don graduated from Warren Central High School and later attended Purdue Extension. He enlisting in the Navy and, after being discharged, returned to his job at Western Electric where he worked for 35 years. After retirement from Western Electric, he worked 13 years for the BMV overseeing License Branch Office Planning and Installation for the State of Indiana. After working 48 years, he retired and enjoyed many winters in Ft. Myers, Fla. Don was also a member of the Post Road Christian Church in Indianapolis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joan (Due) Timmerman; sons, Gary L. (Sonya) Timmerman and Terry K. Timmerman; three granddaughters, Sierra, Alyssa and Jenna; brother, David L. Timmerman; and several nieces and nephews.
He loved and thought the world of his family who will miss him and always love him in their hearts.
A Celebration of Donald’s Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield with visitation one hour prior to the service.
