Jack Proper, 94, of Greenfield, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Hancock Regional Hospital. He was born on Oct. 10, 1919, in Beech Grove, the son of Edward J. and Effie (Kissell) Proper.
He graduated from Beech Grove High School. He married Rebecca (Reed) Proper.
He worked as an Engineer for Naval Avionics, in Indianapolis, from 1945 until 1976 and also as a Street Commissioner for the city of Greenfield.
He is survived by his son, Jim Proper; step-son, Ronnie Brees; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Rebecca.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, at Erlewein Mortuary & Crematory in Greenfield. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, at 2 p.m. also at the mortuary. Pastor Frank Everett will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
