Shillard "Jack" Dunbar, 82, of Nancy, Ky., passed away on Monday, Oct. 21, 2013, at Oak Tree Baptist Hospital in Corbin, Ky. He was born on Jan. 7, 1931, in Jabez, Ky., to the late Leslie & Theola Johnson Dunbar. He was married to the late Addielen Popplewell Dunbar.
A devoted father & husband, Mr. Dunbar also served our country in the U.S. Army and Indiana National Guard. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of dedicated service and was known by many for his brilliant mind and ability to "fix" or "build" anything. He was always ready to help a neighbor or serve his community. He served on the Pulaski Water Board.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and wore his masonic ring with pride. He will be sadly missed by family and as host of friends.
Jack was survived by daughter, Lynn Wiegand, Seattle, Wash.; sons, Mark Dunbar, Greenfield, Ind.; Brian Dunbar Ashford, N.C., David (Elena) Dunbar, Clermont, Fla.; step-children, Dwayne Johnson, Pa.; Debra Goodin, Columbia, Ky.; 10 grandchildren and many nieces & nephews; brother, Jetha (Dollie) Dunbar, Nancy, Ky.; sisters, Rena Elllen Winchester, Nancy, Ky., Darlene Foley, Knightstown, Ind.
Mr. Dunbar was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and brother, Leland Dunbar.
Friends may call from 5-9 PM CDT. Friday at the funeral home. Funeral service for Shillard "Jack" Dunbar will be 12 Noon CDT. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013, at the Bernard Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Richie Curtis officiating. Interment in the White Oak Cemetery at Nancy, Ky.
